MADISON STARTUP MAKES DEBUT AT MIDWEST HORSE FAIR

Local entrepreneur brings new tool for horse desensitization to Midwest Horse Fair

Madison, Wisconsin— March 29, 2019 — Raven’s Equine Products, LLC is making its debut at the 2019 Midwest Horse Fair where owner and local REALTOR, Brenda Schillinger, will be demonstrating and offering for sale her new tool for horse desensitization, The Ribbon Wand.

Raven’s Equine Products, LLC and The Ribbon Wand were born from Schillinger’s love of one very special horse, Raven.

Raven, a Percheron-cross, came from a background that left her lacking in confidence and easily spooked by sudden movements. A spooky horse of any size can be intimidating, but with Raven measuring in at over 17 hands, Schillinger knew she needed to gain her new mare’s trust as quickly as possible. However, Schillinger hadn’t worked with desensitizing a horse before and was worried that many of the current desensitizing tools on the market required an experienced hand to use properly. She wanted something safe for the horse and foolproof for the user.

With that goal, she developed The Ribbon Wand. The Ribbon Wand features colorful ribbons attached to a comfortable-to-hold wand, making it a fun-to-use tool that offers a gentle approach.

Schillinger explained why The Ribbon Wand works for her and Raven. “The Ribbon Wand, with its soft feel, is perfect for Raven’s heightened sensitivity and safer than a rope lash.  I don’t have to worry about a rope striking her eye or hitting too hard and actually stressing her more. And it is fun to use.”

Others agree. Local professional horse trainer and owner of A True Partnership, TJ Clibborn recommends The Ribbon Wand as well. He values The Ribbon Wand because “the ribbons die the minute they touch the horse.” According to Clibborn, this alleviates the threat that the horse feels, allowing the animal to calm quickly. Clibborn also uses the tool to help desensitize horses to movement, by waving the colorful ribbons around the horses with no fear of the ribbons causing any damage to the animals. He says The Ribbon Wand is “one of the greatest tools I have found to desensitize a horse.”

Dan Grunewald, owner of Focus Farm in Helenville, Wisconsin and nationally recognized judge and clinician, recommends The Ribbon Wand for the wide variety of ways it can be used, including teaching the horse to pick up its feet from a distance, introducing the animal to new sounds from snapping the ribbons and getting them accustomed to objects near and on their faces.

The Ribbon Wand is already being used by horse lovers in three countries and is gaining fans daily. Schillinger hopes that exposure through her booth (6203 in the Mendota Room) at the Midwest Horse Fair will introduce the tool to even more horse lovers and trainers and help change the lives of horses like Raven everywhere.

The Ribbon Wand is made in Wisconsin and available to be shipped worldwide.  The Ribbon Wand holds two patents and three trademarks. For more information or to order The Ribbon Wand, visit Raven’s Equine Products, LLC at https://www.repllc18.com/ or stop by their booth 6203 in the Mendota Room.
